One way of dealing with problems is simply to run away from them. Yes, I know. It's not often effective. But a change is as good as a rest, and it is with that in mind that Colleen and I have planned a wee holiday. Just for a couple of days. Just the two of us.
She has an appointment tomorrow morning with a neurologist. Her hands feel cold all the time, and her fingers feel like pins and needles. I'm no medical specialist, but I wonder if stress could play a role in this. Anyway, after the appointment, we plan to point the car northwest toward Mt. Forest. We'll spend Monday with Mum and Dad, and early Tuesday morning carry on to Benmiller Inn and Spa near the town of Goderich. Follow the link to see the place. It looks lovely! We've reserved a romantic room and booked spa treatments. I'm having a hot stone massage, a scalp massage, and a facial(!!) Colleen has booked a regimen of treatments for herself.
Ivy's not thrilled about it, however.
"I have exams next week. Who will remind me to study? Who will look after Percy?"
Pauvre bébé.
She's fourteen. It's time to take on a little more responsibility, I say. Time to grow a little. Time to consider the needs of others. And we SO need this.
We hope to stop and visit Dan on Thursday. My son lives in Kincardine, a short drive north of Goderich. It's really pretty up there. Both towns lie along the eastern shore of Lake Huron, one of our five Great Lakes. In the summer, the area is crowded with tourists, cottagers and fun seekers. Winters, however, can be brutal. I hope the weather is gentle with us.
Bags are packed. See you in a few days!
I hope this short get away will add to your collection of happy memories - and rest! Mostly Dale, I HOPE. (Thank you for letting me in.)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Allison. You're always welcome.
DeleteI'm late to the party, and you're already away. I hope the Ben Miller has fireplaces and nice big windows to look out on but stay out of the brutal cold.
ReplyDeleteA fireplace to keep us warm, John. Red wine, chocolate and a king size bed to keep us happily indoors. Ahh. .. This is the life.
